The Michael G. Santangelo Jr. foundation was truly a blessing. The foundation opened up so many opportunities for me. They took me from having no hope in making it out of where I was, from getting to a place where the sky’s the limit. I am now on a new journey at St. John’s University playing division 1 baseball and although Mr. Santangelo won’t admit it because of the warm-hearted person he is, it is all because of him. If he didn’t take me on to sponsor me, I would have never attended Cardinal Hayes high school, which put me in a great position to be seen by colleges and MLB teams. This foundation took me from being a regular Bronx, New York kid, to an MLB draft prospect in the 2020 MLB draft. I was offered 6 free-agent deals by MLB teams to play for them and I turned them down for education and the college experience. The world needs more people and foundations like this one. They took a kid from poverty and a bad environment and gave him hope and for that, I am forever grateful. I hope that one day I can be like Michael and help people get through high school, college, and even life. It was an amazing four years of high school and this foundation made that possible for me. At the dinner every year, I was able to meet more and more people that help kids like me and it was truly a blessing. The best thing about this foundation is that once you are in it you are in it forever. Michael is my friend forever and I have so much love for that man. He was like the father figure I never had.
